By paying a deposit and confirming your booking, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Lettering & Calligraphy styles

I offer four styles of lettering to choose from. Please note that modern calligraphy and hand lettering are, by their nature, organic and flexible so there may be some variation in letterforms.

 

Deposits & Payment

A non-refundable 50% deposit is required up front to secure your booking and cover planning, samples, initial designs and any materials to be purchased.

Final balance is due upon completion, prior to delivery. The balance will be adjusted to reflect the final scope of the order and to include any postage and packaging costs. If the final scope of work is valued at less than the deposit, no refund will be made.

In the event of late payment, the lead time will be pushed back accordingly.

 

Materials

If you are providing the card or materials for calligraphy, we require a minimum of 15% extra materials to allow for any changes or errors. Calligraphy is a handmade art and so ink splatters and errors can sometimes occur, although we do everything we can to avoid this. Large items such as mirrors or chalkboards are not subject to this allowance. 

Paper or card with porous, metallic or glossy surfaces can be problematic for calligraphy and should be avoided. A sample of the material to be used is required to ensure it is approved for calligraphy before proceeding.

 

Delivery

All items are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery or via same-day courier. Postage or courier costs will be added to the final invoice once agreed. All deliveries will need to be signed for, so please make sure someone is available at your address. Pick-up in person can sometimes be arranged but must be agreed in advance.

 

Rush Fee

Any order requiring a short turnaround time will be subject to a rush fee of the total balance. The timings of your job will be reviewed and a rush fee determined (usually 30% of total balance) by Second Star Lettering, based on scope of the job and other workload at the time.

 

Envelope addressing

Please carefully check all names and addresses before providing me with your list.

Every effort is made to ensure legibility of addresses and postcodes are written in a more simple lettering style to help with this. Second Star Lettering cannot take responsibility for envelopes that are not accepted or delivered by the carrier.

 

Address and Guest Lists 

Please supply your address and/or guest lists exactly as you would like it written. 

Second Star Lettering does not accept any responsibility for spelling mistakes or incorrect information provided by the client. Text must be typed and provided in an editable Excel format with each line in a new row using the template provided to you.

This helps me to lay out the lettering and ensure everything is aligned perfectly. Any documents containing extra columns or rows not needed for calligraphy will not be accepted. Any re-formatting required by Second Star Lettering will be charged at an hourly rate of £50 per hour.

Please check that all spelling and addresses are correct before sending your list to us.

Changes or additions should be submitted in a new document. Any re-do’s or amends will be charged at the agreed cost per item.

Any errors made by Second Star Lettering will not be charged and will be delivered at no additional cost. 

 

Orders must be reviewed within 48 hours of receipt. If within 48 hours of delivery, and at the sole discretion of Second Star Lettering, reasonable requests for revision will be considered.

 

Data Protection

Second Star Lettering will not share your personal details with any third party and will not send you any marketing material unless you have signed up to our mailing list. 

Second Star Lettering will delete any data or personal information shared 90 days after the job has been completed.
